Is PowerScribe One HIPAA compliant?
Not confirmed. We couldn't find a Business Associate Agreement offer for PowerScribe One on Microsoft (Nuance)'s own pages. Without a signed BAA, keep patient data out of it.
Does PowerScribe One sign a BAA?
Not confirmed
No current Microsoft page checked states whether PowerScribe One is covered by a BAA. Microsoft's standard HIPAA BAA lists in-scope cloud services but does not name PowerScribe or other Nuance radiology products, so BAA status is unknown; confirm with your Microsoft/Nuance contract.

| Plan | BAA | How to get it | Conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| PowerScribe One enterprise license (radiology departments) | Not confirmed | Not stated | PowerScribe One is sold to radiology groups and health systems under contract. Microsoft's HIPAA page says its BAA reaches customers by default through the Online Services DPA but covers only the listed in-scope services, which do not include PowerScribe. The Product Terms privacy section mentions the BAA only for Dragon Copilot. The legacy Nuance HIPAA page now redirects to a Word document on microsoft.com that could not be read.[1],[2],[3],[4] |
Are the AI features covered?
Vendors often sign a BAA for the core product but leave some AI features out. Here is what Microsoft (Nuance) says about each one.
| AI feature | Under the BAA | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Smart Impression, quality checks and cloud speech | Not stated | The product page describes AI-drafted impressions and recommendations, laterality and critical-finding checks, and cloud speech recognition, but says nothing about HIPAA, a BAA or which models power these features.[1],[5] |

A signed BAA is necessary but not sufficient for HIPAA compliance, which also depends on configuration, access controls, and your own policies. Verdicts summarize the vendor's own published terms as of the date checked; confirm with the vendor and your counsel before sending protected health information. Not legal advice.
