Before you switch from Claude API (Claude Platform)
You may not have to. Anthropic signs a BAA for Claude API (Claude Platform) on First-party API (self-serve Console enablement); First-party API (custom / negotiated BAA). If you’re on another plan, upgrading may be simpler than moving your team. Even then, these stay outside the BAA: Web search tool; Batch processing, Files API, code execution, agent skills, web fetch, MCP connector, programmatic tool calling, Claude Managed Agents, context management; Claude Console (workbench / playground); Claude Code using an API organization; Covered Models (Claude Fable 5 / 5.1, Mythos 5 / 5.1).

Listed tools offer a BAA on at least one plan according to their own published terms. A BAA alone doesn’t make your use HIPAA compliant: you still need the right plan, configuration and policies. Not legal advice.
